Mia Butera grew up in the heart of Silicon Valley. After earning her BA in International Development, Mia began her legal career as a corporate and securities paralegal at Gunderson Dettmer. While there, she worked with entrepreneurs, guiding them through formation, financings, M&A, and everything in between. When she realized this was her calling, Mia enrolled at the Santa Clara University School of Law where she served on both the Santa Clara Law Review and the Computer and High Technology Law Journal. In law school, Mia honed her legal skills and gained experience interning with various corporate legal teams. After graduation, Mia joined Oracle where she drafted and negotiated high value licensing contracts with major enterprise clients.
In 2014, Mia left Oracle to join Instacart. Mia served as the first in-house attorney for this fast-growing grocery delivery startup. At Instacart, she managed all things legal. Her major achievements include drafting and negotiating agreements with Instacart’s 90+ retail partners, counseling on employment and independent contractor matters, and initiating compliance projects for alcohol delivery, food safety, coupons and marketing.
At Rogoway law Group, Mia plays to her considerable legal skill, maintaining a focus on corporate governance, formations, and commercial contracts for emerging growth cannabis companies. She enjoys counseling cannabis entrepreneurs on forming entities and formalizing their business relationships in this rapidly changing industry amidst complex compliance and regulatory hurdles.
