City of Los Angeles: Update on Department of Cannabis Regulations (DCR) Recommendations

Table of Contents

On February 12, 2019, we discussed the Los Angeles Department of Cannabis Regulations (“DCR”) recommendations to the City’s Rules, Elections, and Intergovernmental Relations Committee (the “Committee”) regarding Phase III of the cannabis business licensing process. This is a brief update to that original post.

On February 15, 2019, Kat Packer presented the DCR’s recommendations to the Committee. After hearing from Ms. Packer and asking clarifying questions, the Committee adopted the recommendations but postponed action on the item stating that the City has a lot of work to do. In an effort to give the Committee time to vet and go through the information provided, the Chair of the Committee, Councilmember Wesson, stated that the Committee will probably reconvene for another hearing on the recommendations in two to three weeks. In the meantime, there is no definitive start date for Phase III.

Our Los Angeles cannabis licensing attorneys are monitoring this item and will post updates as they become available. For any questions, please contact Rogoway Law Group’s Los Angeles Office to schedule a consultation.
