Litigation Paralegal

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conduct legal research
  • Draft initial pleadings, motions and e-filing with the court
  • Aid attorneys with drafting, and responding to, interrogatories and other discovery requests
  • Assist in responding to discovery, including working directly with clients to obtain all necessary information
  • Prepare documents for production to the opposing party and handle documents produced by the opposing party (ideally with expertise in document management software)
  • Prepare summaries of responses to written discovery that have propounded, and summarize deposition testimony
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices, including all electronic files
  • Coordinate between the client and attorney for gathering documents and information requests
  • Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage discovery deadlines, and etc.)
  • Schedule mediations and keeping all parties up to date
  • Coordinate with court coordinators regarding setting in person and virtual hearings
  • Maintain routine communications with clients and attorneys about case status and preparation
  • Provide exceptional customer service with compassion and professionalism
  • General office administrative and coordination responsibilities, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of working experience as a Paralegal
  • Paralegal Certificate (Highly Preferred), Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
  • E-filing experience required
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, and etc., especially in business or commercial litigation
  • Ability to assist attorneys with propounding and responding to discovery (interrogatories, requests for admissions, and request for production, subpoenas, and preparing deposition binders) and motions (preparation of any supporting documents and exhibits, and preparing hearing binders)
  • Self-Starter with the Ability to Multi-Task
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Results-oriented team player
  • Finely tuned analytical skills and the ability to interpret and analyze a multitude of documents including pleadings, client communications, and a variety of legal documents
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative work environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access), Gmail, MacOS, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, One Legal, Rapid Legal, LawToolBox, WestLaw; ability to learn Case Management and Document Management systems.
